The 5TDF is a revolutionary Soviet tank engines. It is a 2-stroke, multi-fuel, high supercharger, liquid-cooled, direct injection engine with opposed pistons and horizontal cylinders, which makes it far more compact than prior models. The 5TDF can output from 700 hp to 1050 hp depending on the model. These engines are primarily seen in the state-of-the-art T-64 though it's widely known in the Soviet Army that the 5TDF engine is much to blame for the tank's severe reliability problems.
