The Winchester Model 1873 is an American lever-action carbine produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Mechanically, it is very similar to the Winchester Model 1873, and was meant to replace it as Winchester's bid in the pistol-calibre carbine market. It is mainly chambered in the same .44-40 Winchester cartridge, though the 1892 was designed to fire smokeless loads in mind. As a result, it can be easily rechambered to modern "heavy pistol" calibres such as .357 Magnum or .44 Magnum. The Model 1892 became insanely famous thanks to American western-genre television shows and movies. For example, actor John Wayne uses Model 1892 in many of the western films where he features.
