The SPG-82 is a Soviet recoilless rifle developed in the late 1940s to provide infantry units with a portable and effective anti-tank and anti-fortification weapon. It utilizes a combination of propellant and vented exhaust to mitigate recoil, allowing it to be fired from a tripod or vehicle mount. Capable of launching 82mm high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) rounds, the SPG-82 can penetrate up to 200mm of RHA steel, making it a formidable tool against post-World War II armoured vehicles and bunkers. By the mid-1960s it has mostly been replaced by heavier and more modern designs with much greater ranges, but it is still occasionally seen in the hands of third-world forces.
