Monastery to Amaunator, Lathander & Selûne

The Order of the Sun Soul claims equal allegiance to the churches of Amaunator, Lathander, and Selûne, but in truth, this monastic brotherhood has long been primarily associated with the followers of Lathander. However, the Waterdhavian branch of the Sun Soul Order has recently begun espousing a heresy that might eventually lead to a split among the three branches of the Morninglord’s church.

Amaunator

God of the Sun
Epithets: The Keeper of the Eternal Sun, The Light of Law, The Yellow God
Domains: Life, Light, Order
Symbol: Golden sun

The rule of law and the glory of the sun are both in Amaunator's dominion. His priests help establish bureaucracies and lawful order in communities. They often witness contracts and signed agreements, stamping such documents with the sun-symbol of Amaunator to signify their validity.

Lathander

God of Dawn & Renewal
Epithets: The Morninglord, Inspiration's Dawn, The Rose-and-Gold God
Domains: Life, Light
Symbol: Road traveling into a sunrise

Lathander is the god of the spring, birth, and renewal, a deity of conception, vitality, youth, renewal, and self-perfection. He is god not of the sun but of the dawn, which represents the start of a new day filled with potential. As a god of beginnings, people commonly offer a prayer to him before undertaking any journey or endeavor. Lathander's name is invoked to seal alliances and christen new ventures or companies. As a result, the god is very popular among the merchant classes, and the church has benefited accordingly.

Selûne

Goddess of the Moon
Epithets: Our Lady of Silver, The Moonmaiden, The Night White Lady
Domains: Knowledge, Life, Twilight
Symbol: Pair of eyes surrounded by seven stars

Selûne is thought to be among the most ancient of Faerûn's deities. Most humans in Faerûn consider the moon in the sky to literally be the goddess gazing down on the world, and the trailing motes of light behind it her tears. She is also a goddess of stars and navigation as well as motherhood and reproductive cycles. She is seen as a calm power, frequently venerated by female humans as well as by a mix of other folk: navigators and sailors, those who work honestly at night, those seeking protection in the dark, the lost, and the questing.

Notable Clergy

Role Name Description
Abbot of the Monastery of the Sun High Ranger Faeruilin Onuskan The stern disciplined leader of the Monastery of the Sun around the Trades Point North neighbourhood. Where some of his adherents prefer the solitude of the monastery's sequesters, Abbot Alger gets out and about, meeting the neighbors and lending a hand where he can. He doesn't hesitate to get his hands dirty, and the locals love him for it.
Master Blademonk of the Monastery of the Sun Amithrel Fuindren Curmudgeonly and prone to surly bouts of silence that he calls meditation, Dumak is a githzerai swordmaster, a monk who has dedicated his life to perfecting swordsmanship. About the only person he can stand to be around is the young aarakocra monk Clarc, his apprentice in the sword-arts. The younger monks call him the "Monastery Ghost", as he is almost never seen before early afternoon, and remains awake all night, slipping off to his chamber to sleep just before sunrise, "so as not to get in the way of all the sun-worship around here."
Monk of the Monastery of the Sun Lessemas of Lathander A strikingly handsome half-elf monk, Lessemas is usually up with the dawn, performing his forms in the courtyard space just outside of the Monastery of the Sun. Quiet and contemplative, Lessemas has caused quite a stir before in the Dusken Glade and a few other places (some of the ladies at the Andamar Estates like to come out to fetch water at the water pump when he's doing his forms for exactly this reason). No one really knows if he's taken some kind of oath of chastity of some kind, though it's a favorite bit of neighborhood speculation. Those who watch him carefully can usually tell he's not unaware of this odd effect, even if he doesn't pay too much attention to it.
