This guild is a highly educated, professional group of men and women who letter signs, draw pictures (sometimes in front of a party audience, upon a noble’s hiring), compose and write letters, take dictation, design ornamental scripts, draw up legal tallies, and set down records, contracts, and accounts.
The guild is also in charge of ensuring the maintenance of Waterdeep's Waterdeep's street signs. As of 1492 DR, the guild has also begun to work with the Guild of Letters, Parcels & Logistics to establish outlets in each of the city's major dray stations and facilitate increased letter writing.
On the grounds of the Zoarstar, the guild's headquarters, its members maintain the Scrivners' Shrine dedicated to Deneir, God of Writing.
