These horrifying predators are used as mounts by Breccia cavalry; They alone have the secret of training a gorglet into something tame enough for war. They're twice the weight of a draft horse, with 4" long teeth and legs like that of a crocodile, only longer. They can outrun a brown bear over short distances, it's said (though who might survive to report it is not known).
Wild packs of 3-12 gorgops roam the Vespasian pine barrens, making it perilous to travel alone. They are ambush predators, and can quickly overwhelm even a group of well-prepared humans. Rather than try to hunt this menace, villagers manage them by eliminating their prey - boars, mountain goats, and herd animals mostly. It takes training from birth to tame a gorglet into a beast of war, but Breccian cavalry are as feared as any. Optimized for short bursts of speed as they are, Brec knights tend to only mount up at the last possible moment.
