Previously this mountain range was known as the Al-Safas. Its peaks overlook Alchemy Bay, and its glaciers feed into Claystone Lake. Renamed for Count Victor Montaigne, whose family settled in these mountains after claiming the land from the The Mashayan Dominion some two hundred odd years ago.
After that war, the count became a famous explorer and charted the entire range, as well as finding a number of extensive crystal caves beneath the mountains. The land now belongs to Serzy Montaigne, and has been transformed into a kingdom. There are still ruins of ancient Mashaya fortresses and hideouts to be found among the peaks.
