Sitting on the path through the mountains directly west of Orchalannon, Eagle Valley is a fortress of great renown.

Its defenses are narrow but deep; It spans the entire width of the pass, and for nearly half a league up and down the summit there are switchback walls and successive gates with towers throughout, so that an army would have to spend many lives for every inch they took.

The fortifications were built prior to the Curse of Sin. Now there is little need of it, for what army would dare set foot in the realm now?

Forces are stationed here on a rotating basis, but most are loath to go. Attacks are unheard of, and the guardhouses are surpassingly cold and without comfort.

Near Claystone Lake, there is rumor of a beautiful village where travelers are treated as kings. Guests are, it is said, given endless meat and mead, and may freely take horizontal refreshment with any of the maids. Perhaps, if true, it is not so strange that none return.

Haast Company is known for its engineering: Many siege weapons, extensive fortifications, and a multi-tiered keep that can withstand almost any siege imaginable. It mainly employs archers recruited from the peasantry for large indirect volleys, and a strike force of 150 mounted cavalry (mixed knights and squires) for sorties. Most of these archers and cavalry are not active at all times, and can take as much as five days to muster. The castle contains 20 knights and under 200 archers nominally.
