Catamaran-hulled with no keel, these ships are extremely maneuverable and fast thanks to their Hadrus power. They each have between 2 and 6 hadruses in a row, all slung to the hull amidships. These powerful beasts are born swimmers. A team of hadruses can sustain cruising speeds almost indefinitely.
The large, flat profile of the hull allows Orit marines to stage their boarding parties, which is their preferred method of attack. The very low-lying smaller wavetreaders are hard to spot until they're very near. If the ship is lost, the lines holding each hadrus can be cut, and sailors use the severed tow lines as a means of escape.
This vessel can also navigate exceptionally shallow waters, even the Fum Alnahr. This fact is key to the Kingdom of Orisaar's trade policy in the region. Only an Orit wavetreader can ferry cargo through the rapids to Kurzmarch Ford.
The largest Wavetreaders are wider about the deck, using off-duty hadruses as mobile counterweights to power their trebuchets, which can hurl 100lb stones nearly 700 feet to assail coastal fortifications. During naval engagements, the trebuchet throws a mixture of smaller stones all together, piercing decks, sails, and crew all at once. This armament is key to their efforts against pirates and hostile Pollies.
