Mounted combat has many advantages. Just don't get knocked off.
Attacking From A Mount
When you are sitting atop a mount and making an attack against one who is not mounted, your increased speed and size contribute +1d to your attack pool, except when:
- Your Attack pool cannot exceed your Ride pool
- Your weapon is short (short sword or smaller) or is a ranged weapon
- Your mount has a damaged (filled with Shock or Killing) body part
Charging
A successful charge (roll Ride at -1d) causes you to move up to the mount's Movement Speed toward an enemy. If that movement puts you in contact with an enemy, you gain Width (of the Ride roll) in +d to your attack and bonus damage levels.
Damage Levels:
S -> K -> SK -> SK (+1) -> SK (+2) -> x2SK
Example: If you rolled a width of 3 to Charge, and your weapon normally causes w+1SK, you gain +3d to your attack, which now causes w+2SK.
Unhorsed
Hitting a mount with Killing damage in any area forces an instant Ride roll, with a penalty equal to the Width of that attack. If you fail, and are knocked off your horse, you take your mount’s Body stat in Area S, and fall to the ground. If you botch your roll, it becomes Area SK.
