The Shimmer

The Shimmer: The Shimmer is a geological phenomena unique to Gorathell. Once every decade or so the continent experiences a series of earthquakes. These quakes can last for up to one minute. Some are so intense they create small rifts in the earth. The reason it is called the Shimmer is because of the effects that occur after the quakes. Not long after, a bluish and purple light rises from the earth and into the sky, this effect lasts for a few minutes before the lights vanish. In areas with chasmes or large rifts the light is brighter. This light is raw arcane energy. Scholars from all walks of life have studied this effect and the raw arcane energy. Many tried to retrieve samples, after a while these Scholars discovered Aracnite. The only substance in the known world that can hold pure Arcane energy.
