Session 7: SAY IT LIKE IT IS

• Harvey follows up with Ashen Tamoor at his shop in the Merchants’ Quarter. Tamoor recognizes the ledger and walks Harvey through the decoding procedure using the ribbon bookmark. The glyphs morph into common, revealing long lists of names and debts. Tamoor reveals that he knows precisely which goblin this belongs to because he is the one that sold it. After some coy back-and-forth, Harvey agrees to relinquish the ledger and the pair look forward to future, mutually beneficial business with each other.

• At the Temple of Lathander, Vic introduces his companions to Edina. The priest offers 1800 gold to the group for their assistance in eradicating the undead presence in Black Helm Tower. She also suggests, with attempted discretion, that unique items of use may be found in the Tower to which no one has claim, save for that which Vic’s superiors have over the assembled tomes of the former inhabitants. Edina says the Tower was the headquarters of the long-dissolved Heralds of Faerun, an order of lorekeepers with particular interest in royal lineages. Their business took them far afield and Edina expresses a belief that their travel may have been magical in nature. Edina also identifies the entity that Vic fought at the Tower’s door as an eidolon. They are typically holy spirits that protect sacred sites, animating inanimate objects at need in defense. A corrupted eidolon may have been attracted to the Tower, or corrupted by another influence. Either way, Edina feels there must be another entity within than a mere guardian spirit. After some brief, private deliberations, the party accepts Edina’s terms. She blesses the group and as the sun passes its zenith in the winter sky, she bestows upon Vic a medallion bearing Lathander’s insignia.

• Searos, Harvey, and Paws return to Ashen Tamoor’s shop hoping that he has some knowledge that would assist against the corrupted eidolon. He does not, but Paws follows an impulse and asks Tamoor to examine her opal. He can’t say much, but he is taken with it and does not believe it is an opal at all, though it superficially appears to be one. Tamoor explains his knowledge is broader than it is deep, and offers to write to his colleague in Waterdeep for more information and asks Paws to follow up with him next time she’s in town. He takes extremely detailed notes and drawings. Paws purchases a turtle brooch and the trio return to Gooseberry Inn.

• After meeting with Edina, Vic and Kas immediately head back to the inn to talk as Vic paints Kas’s portrait against the skyline of Daggerford. They clear the air that lingers between them, their short acquaintanceship having been colored by caution and accidental bruises: a careless word against a dear friend, a punch meant to be pulled, an uncharacteristic loss of control and caution around newcomers. The pair open up to each other and share fragments of their past, discovering they both have passed and returned from beyond death’s veil. Vic finishes his oil sketch, effortlessly capturing the sunlight glancing off of Kas’s hair and dancing in her violet eyes. As a token of trust, he gives her a name long unused, weighted by the memories from another life: Osveldt Vicken, and bids her use it.

Vic is admiring the area as an artist. someone should paint or poem it.

priestess would like to know more about what we find there. the temple was once the HQ of record keepers throughour faerun. part of their order was to travel extensively throughout the sword coast. information could still be there and is very valubale. candlekeep would be a good repository for the items there.

well know to travel by discreet and magical means. PLANES???

the temple wants it purged of the undead. candlekeep wants the records. anthing that falls between those two considreations are freely available.

Kas askes about it Kas is interested in travel between planes. the temple doesn't think they traveled to other planes.

the priestess thinks the spirit at the door is a spirit that is capable o possessing inaminate objects. In my study, my suggestion would be to incapaciate it before it takes possession of an object. EIDOLONS. guardians that have guarded the temple of old such of these. this one may be fallen or twisted. most likely not the only thing found within. must be protecting something else.

not a guardian of before but was attracted to this site well after "the heralds" fell. a collection fo scirbes wouldn't need a defense liek this.

best stat to incapaciate it or hold it before it enters a statue

if the statue can be destroyed, the spirit will be released and be vunerable.

Kas has mostly shiny light spells. but you never know

I think everyone deserves a second chance. undead might be difficult if they are like what I used to be. Some undead are passed their chance.
