- Prior to 10 years ago, Armand Pogodi and his twin sister Gwynne Pogodi were well-known monster hunters, working in a kingdom well distant from Ravenspeak (200-300km? Travelable, but not close.)

- 10 years ago, while attempting to kill a Hag in her magically-twister lair, Gwynne was killed in a strange arcane release. The arcane energies somehow allowed her spirit to survive, and be bound to Armand himself. Because Gwynne's bound spirit was weak, she did not fully manifest for almost a year after the event, leaving Armand to consider her dead.

- Armand's sister's death hit him hard, and he threw himself into work. He starter taking more and more risky jobs, and more and more shady ones. He worked only alone, and became cruel in his work, not caring who got hurt or what kinds of jobs he took. He gained a reputation of something dangerous and deadly, and made many enemies. During this dark year of his life, Armand came by his nickname. The story goes that one night, sitting at a tavern, he was accosted by seven village drunks and hooligans. They had made fun of him - as humans do - making fun of his lineage. "Hey wabbit, want a carrot?" they taunted. Then they went to the kitchen and they got some carrots - one for each man. The first of the men that threw a carrot at Armand missed. The second carrot landed in Armand's stew, causing it to splash up to his face. The next three carrots bounced off his armor and Armand stood up to leave. The sixth carrot hit him in the back of the head. At this point, he turned around, drew a dagger and dared the last man to through his. Armand's dagger was in the man's eye before the carrot made it halfway across the room and then was a lot of blood, broken limbs and eyeless men. They called him "Seven Carrots" after that night, but reputable people no longer wanted to hire him, and the jobs got darker still - thefts, assassinations, abductions.

- As "Seven Carrots" went about his grim business for that year, strange magical things began to happen, and he started hearing his sister's voice. Eventually she begain to appear to him, able to speak, and even act in a way. Gwynne was disappointed to see what he had become, and he was ashamed of it himself. He left his country, travling across wilderness, talking - sometimes to his dead sister, sometimes to himself - until after a long journey, he came to the distant town of Ravenspeak.

- "Call me Sev," he said, using the shortened name that his sister had insisted on. "You can't forget the things you've done," she said, "so you must carry the reminder in your name." He gave up the violent life, drawing his weapons only if a monster attacked, and settled into a peaceful existence as the town Blacksmith, with the sound of the hammer and anvil covering his strange conversations.

- Note: Sev carries a very old and worn out deck of playing cards, with many cards missing. It's a deck they he used to play with Gwynne.
