Dragonborn

Many a people struggle to find a single unifying purpose that transcends social status and rank. The Strixiki are not to be counted among them. They are a people of unwavering bravery and unmitigated dedication to a single ideal - the absolute liberation of their people. However, many would append a second driving factor - revenge.

The dragonborn (strixiki, or "quarter-dragon" in draconic) are a race of humanoids with dragon blood in their ancestry. They were first born of chromatic dragons copulating with humans to build an army of half-dragons. Rarely, the resulting child would take more after the human parent than the dragon. While not as strong as their half-dragon cousins, these quarter-dragons (as they were called) were able to reproduce. Recognizing this, the chromatic dragons enslaved these people and forced them to breed in an effort to raise a slave army.

In AL 3928, a group of blue dragonborn managed to escape captivity in the deserts of Turalisjeth and flee to what is now Uljarytiss. They quickly set about bolstering their forces, recruiting heroes, and setting about tracking down and freeing other dragonborn. In time, dragonborn would transform this temporary residence into the Uljarytiss Shogunate.

As of AA 28, blue, green, white, and black dragonborn have been liberated. Metallic dragonborn are more uncommon, but not unheard of, as metallic dragons have little desire to build such an army.

Dragonborn inherit their human ancestors' moral flexibility and resilience, but also inherit their dragon ancestors' tendencies towards law or chaos. Much of their anatomy mirrors their dragon ancestors as well, notably the fact that they lay eggs. However, dragonborn do not have tails.

Some non-dragonborn have difficulty differentiating men and women. One common tactic is to use the vibrancy of their scales and spines; males tend to be more brightly-colored than females. However, this tactic has resulted in more than a couple of embarrassments, especially when naive outsiders confuse a dragonborn noblewoman, bejeweled and wearing bright clothes, for a man.

One sport unique to the dragonborn of Uljarytiss is that of sumo wrestling. Sumo athletes have a strict diet and exercise routine, and because of their size are said to be the closest in image and power to their dragon ancestors.
