Adventurers

Frazzled by another enchanting experience, Rarder decided to start training up some proteges upon whom he might then be able to rely. These, combined with Koko’s retinue and the ever-reliable Hats, meant that the trio of adventurers were leading an 11-strong team back into the subterranean temple. Their journey was troubled only by an enormous one-eyed creature dragging its axe in neat lines from the river into the forest – he seemed disinterested in the party, replying shortly to their questions, saying that he was doing a chore for Uncle Tubal and Aunty Zabal. The expedition left him to his devices.

While most of the group set about unspiking the door to the main hall, Koko had a poke around the room featuring three great rings in the wall, setting foot into it for the first time. A ray of light flared out from each ring and formed an ethereal being who challenged the cleric to a game. Staking one of the party’s magical amulets, Koko triumphed in short order and was presented with a spectral key which nevertheless weighed heavy in his hand. The ghostly gamer faded away.

With a good idea of where the key went, the party descended to the room where they’d all been lulled into a trance by the flying bird folk, and pressed the key to the door. It swung open to reveal an impression of a library in stone decor, with a large playing piece in the centre. Koko took it and suddenly found himself gifted with the knowledge of an arcane spell.

The group then proceeded to slowly work their way up through the rest of the temple, flinging flasks of oil into unexplored rooms to clear out any inhabitants. They found little in the way of treasure as they did so – at least, treasure that survived the flames – but they counted it a job well done to have cleaned up the underground complex. Alerting their ratfolk acquaintances to the good news, they made their way back to their fort.
