With minimal injuries, we decided to rest briefly and return, this time seeking out the king of under the mountain, the prisoners indicating southwards.
At first we encountered a large chamber, where two guard dogs snarled at us but seemed uncertain to attack, I enticed them with food and they became friendly.
Meanwhile, the others had discovered bodies in the chamber, the elf started talking to their sword in some argumentative way, but this gave an indication of magical items on the corpses, a search revealed a sword and a ring.
The elf, as is want of their avarice of all things charmed and cursed, placed the ring on their finger and, behold, a small cat had appeared! Before I could engage my new found canine pets the elf returned, undoubtedly some feline curse.
The warriors were eager to explore and destroy, so we continued, uncovering some living quarters, and a chapel containing a statue of a forgotten deity, with two sparkling gems as eyes. Without hesitation our thieves scampered up to remove them but as the first detached it triggered a trap!
Four large flying insectoids buzzed around us, quick action from our bows immediately pinned two but the others stung our thief badly, I was sure they were fatal but he recovered and I ensconced him with my healing staff as the remaining two flyers were dispatched.
Alerted by noise outside the chapel we readied ourselves and advanced, to be met with a volley of arrows, our mage spun their spell of sleep and the enemy collapsed, we gained two more prisoners and returned to the surface to camp and rest.
