Adventurers
- Alfredward (Dwarf 4) and Tarvyn (Magic User 2)
- Koko (Cleric 5)
- Mandras (Dwarf 3)
As the skeletons continued to reanimate, the party started kicking their skulls into the pit which had recently housed Arnd – when the sapphires drew the bones back together the skeletal assailants scrambled helplessly against the sides. Happy to leave them all down there, the party withdrew and, aware they’d been crawling along these passages for hours without finding any undead worthy of releasing Alfredward and Rarder from their resurrection obligations, opted to press on further into the Barrowmaze.
What followed were several hours more of the party rushing through tunnels and rooms, with Koko frantically trying to map their progress so that they could find their way back out. They muffled voices behind one door, took note of a crudely drawn diagram of some sorts on a floor, and otherwise hurried on, ignoring anything that was moving and breathing, or not moving or breathing. Altars, alcoves and archives be damned.
With muffled exasperated curses coming from Koko at the rear, Alfredward
and Mandras eventually came to a room with two locked doors and three
levers. Playing around with the levers they were able to get both doors
open and edged warily through one. As they were exploring the room
beyond, the doors both slammed shut, and they had to explain to Koko and
the retainers left behind how to get them open again. Whilst the cleric
levered away, the two dwarves tried ‘just one more door’ to the south,
hoping to link up with where they’d first started in the dungeon, but
the floor beneath dropped to a slope and flung both of them into a wall
ahead with a crunch.
