Adventurers
- Alfredward (Dwarf 5) and Tarvyn (Magic User 3)
- Dulo Chaec (Magic User 3)
- Koko (Cleric 5)
- Mandras (Dwarf 4)
- Rarder (Fighter 5)
The party let Koko do some quick scouting around to develop his map of the area while they waited for their paralysed retainers to regain control of their limbs. Fortunately no further monsters troubled them, and they set off down an eastward-heading corridor, pushing at any doors they came across.
One swung open to reveal an elaborately decorated door on the opposite wall flanked by a large dial and a tablet with various numbers chiselled into it. Spotting the pattern and sequence remarkably quickly, the adventurers spun the dial a few times and the second door rose up into the ceiling to reveal small room with a dwarven warrior on a stone slab, a nice-looking warhammer clutched upon his chest.
Wary of a trap, the party stood well back while Mandras looped a lasso over the warhammer and hauled it towards the doorway. It fell off the corpse with a clunk and the door came down again immediately, accompanied by the sound of hissing gas. Not wishing to find out what that gas might do right now, the location was marked down and the band of adventurers marched on.
Noticing a crack in the wall the party gave it a push and found a secret passageway. leading into a cluster of crypts. The doors slid open and nine figures clad in clerical rags rushed forward. Alf took several painful strikes and Rarder ushered him back, handing the dwarf his magical spear and fending off incoming blows. Both he and Mandras took the front rank as the adventurers shuffled back to funnel their opponents. From the second rank, Alfredward brought one of the more fancily dressed ones and felt a wave of relief wash over him; the creature he'd slain was high enough level to pay his resurrection debt.
Delighted, the party hacked their way through the rest of the undead and, with only a very quick halt to gather some interesting-looking equipment from the carcasses, raced back for the entrance of the Barrowmaze, and then for Redwood Castle. Despite their monster-over-treasure speed run approach, the adventurers had accumulated some decent wealth. Time for the magic users to work on filling their spellbooks.
