Our return to the watery caves was emboldened by my former acolyte Umphred, who bolstered me with the divine presence of Mar Nod, and provided the party with succour, we continued our journey up the waterfall to the burial chamber and began to examine the secret doors previously discovered.
A thief who joined us was one from my distant memory, revealed a passage and a chamber, the latter holding a chest which was determined to be trapped, after being quickly disarmed, it revealed a large amount of coins, gems, a scroll and a spear, which was given to my sell-sword, the rest we lugged back to the horses for safekeeping.
Moving further into the passages we discovered a corridor with a small ante-chamber, the thief and the dwarf examined it but found it empty, alas as the dwarf moved away the floor opened sending the thief into water below, we gathered light and rope to begin a rescue, but as the poor fellow scrambled up a great pair of jaws came from beneath and swallowed whole!
Lamenting the loss of the thief we were soon joined by another, more muscular and alert, and continued to another room of carvings, suddenly Umphred screamed out, grabbed from above by a spidery form which drove its fangs into his hand, several other arachnids flowed from above and we scrambled to crush them.
After a short massacre of octopods, Umphred was not well, the poison creeping up his arm, we decided on amputation, remembering the last time this activity was performed, resulting in the death of a follower, fortunately the severance was clean and Umphred, with a shortened limb, was pale but alive.
We ventured a little further and then decided to return to town for a rest and to deposit our loot.
