Like Gloomreach to the South, Scarrcliff was built on a leyline of residual Gate Magic from the time of the Cursed Period. Unlike Gloomreach, which seems to be stuck in time, Scarrcliff was transformed into a bustling mining town where townsfolk go deep underground to retrieve rare gems used for enchanting and magical items.
In recent years however, people have begun to leave the town for fear of their safety. Some say that the miners dug too deep and awakened something deep underground, others fear the new mistress of the Tesla Mansion, now called the Screaming Mansion by the children. They say that when she arrived the flowers bloomed for the first time in a generation; an ill omen.
