Formos is an Outer Rim astronomical object that operates primarily as a processing location of spice transported out of Kessel. Despite this, however, Imperial presence on Formos is fairly lax for its purpose, as the planet's climate is incredibly hostile outside of its few key settlements -- that in turn are all under control of the Empire's Mining Guild.

Key to the planet is Formos Spaceport, the one only location on the planet equipped with the means to dock and maintain anything larger than a passenger shuttle.

The central spaceport on Formos is the means by which the Empire shuttles in spice from nearby Kessel to be processed, and then later off the planet to be handled elsewhere. Because of this, it is a popular spot for smugglers to take on board spice shipments for special-interest clients, though often under the risk of becoming a spice miner on Kessel themselves if they are caught.

Outside of the landing zone itself, the spaceport contains the typical facilities one would expect from an industrial Outer Rim colony. Its central streets are all densely packed with shops, services, and venues, and beyond there it sprawls out in a wide landscape of prefabricated structures that all interconnect to shield its residents from the planet's unforgiving climate.

Leading away from the spaceport is the main transit highway to the Empire's spice processing facilities on the planet.
