Caught by the hutt kingpin Bargos, the crew found themselves incarcerated in fugitive cells, deep within the hutt's eponymous Bargos Tower. The greedy hutt's goals were two-fold; to hand the crew on over to the Empire, hoping to cash in a bounty on an Imperial defect matching the description of Hoosha Quill and her liaison Madaa Ki, and to squeeze what labour he could out of them in the mining colony his acquisitions run on the planet Gavos.
On Gavos, the crew were incarcerated in a prison mining crew - though they were quick to connect to the other inmates, network between them, and stir the roots of a possible riot against their Cartel wardens. Alongside the humanoid prisoners on site, the mining operation was run in great part by repurposed battle droids, pushed along by a cruel droid taskmaster.
A small light in the darkness; one of the prisoners on the mining planet, the result of another unfortunate encounter with the hutt Bargos, was the crew's wanted contact on the smuggler moon of Nar Shaddaa. The toydarian agent Mati Darryn.
As their plans of future revolt grew, and a plan began to take shape, little did they know it would come to clash with another revolt. At the hands of the droid taskmaster, whose intelligence processors had been damaged by lacking repair and neglect by the all too cost-effective running of Bargos' operations - favoring a short-term strip-mining of the planet over any longer term sustainability.
So, when the first part of the prisoners' plan was staged, disabling security measures on the mining tools kept down in the kilometers deep network of tunnels, none of them expected the sudden uprising of droids ready to stand in their way. Droids all with one directive in mind; ridding the mining colony of all organic life, indiscriminately.
However, by clever appeal from the crew, a small number of the repurposed battle droids swayed to the undeniably aligned goals of the prisoners; to break out of the prison colony and escape the planet. A fight abruptly ensued, first below ground in the mining tunnels, and later above ground in the mine foundries - between the prisoners, the defecting battle droids, and the top-side droids who had already systematically exterminated the prison guards.
A devastating battle, that saw the death of both droids and prisoners, as well as almost the death of both Jaxx and Madaa Ki, the prisoners eventually managed to escape the mining colony aboard a ship. The smuggler ship of a sullustan gun-runner, brought planet-side to supply the droid uprising with weaponry - though the droid taskmaster had quickly rid himself of the man after the deal was done.
With Gavos a shrinking sight in the distance, the smuggler vessel -- a relic from the Galactic Civil War - packed up with convicts and near-destroyed droids alike for the journey away from the planet. Mati Darryn, an undercover rebel agent assigned to keep an eye on dealings between the hutt cartels and the Empire in Hutt space, proposed for the crew to make for Bothan space.
A collective call was made to make the jump. Both for the relative safety of Bothawui at the present time, being an officially neutral member of the Empire and the Imperial Senate, and for the strong ties of the Rebellion to the bothan spy network running on the planet.
Along the way, collective effort between the crew and their fellow escapees from Gavos saw the safe they'd brought along -- stolen from the mine's head office -- cracked open. A deal was struck; Jaxx, Voda, Madaa, Hoosha, Mati, and the salvaged troop of battle droids from Gavos would keep the credits from the safe.
Marv, Bonda, and Rica, the other escapees from Gavos, would keep the ship the group had fled the planet in. All other items, weapons and the like, were divided evenly between.
