Part 6: Operation Glare Peak

While the crew were at the Drev'starn safehouse, an emergency call came in from a Rebel fighter. The ship, with its crew, had crash-landed at Glare Peak -- a research settlement on the planet Trivar II in the Gorian Reach cluster. Not too far from the Hydian Way and the rebel outpost of Yavin IV.

Agreeing to undertake a mission to extract the rebels, who would presumably be taken captive by Imperial agents from the Imperial holding facility at Glare Peak, the crew set off by a jump-ship to cross the galaxy as fast as possible.

Once arrived at the ice-covered planet, a trek away from the settlement itself, they set about making a rendezvous with the agents local to the place. They met up with a crew comprised of Lelsk, a Bothan Spynet agent; Doleth, a Duros accountant; Fren, an Ithorian thermal engineer; and Jaxon, leader of the sleeper cell to which they all belonged. This sleeper cell had the cover identity as a thermal engineering firm, tending to heater supplies for the settlement.

Plans were quickly laid for a two-pronged infiltration of the holding facility: one group in via the ventilation systems, and another dressed up as engineers dispatched by the sleeper cell's cover firm.

For the group posing as engineers, a harrowing ordeal ensued to pass checkpoint by checkpoint into the facility, and them from there keep an iron-clad mask as to not break cover. Eventually the group managed to delve deep into the technical core of the facility, at which a series of well-placed detonators saw to demolish the facility from within.

For the other group, infiltrating via the ventilation system, an exhaust outlet was the easiest entry. Though their approach resulted in the destruction of a well-beloved shovel, they managed to work their way inside -- and from there, breach up into the holding cells by way of the ventilation shafts that spanned the facility.

Once the plan had been set in motion, all too far to pull back, a revelation was made: An Imperial star destroyer, designate to the Emperor's right-hand executor, Lord Vader, was en-route to the planet to interrogate the rebel agents taken captive.

Once the detonators set down below ground went off, chaos quickly ensued throughout. A fight broke loose, with blaster-fire decked through the hallways as the crew worked their way further on in to find the captive rebel agents. Eventually they managed to find one; codenamed Tracer. She could inform at the other agent, codenamed Deflector, had died in the crash.

As intent as the crew was on extracting the lot of them, Tracer brought their attention to the presence of one other individual in the holding cells -- a mysterious stranger, one which the two agents had been escorting through Imperial space, off the records. It was this escort that drew the attention of a TIE fighter squadron, and led to the subsequent crash on Trivar II.

The stranger, a humbly-dressed elder man, introduced himself to the group as Bren Kestal. With him along, they made their daring escape out of the holding facility via the same ventilation shafts that had brought them in.

The escape was not without trouble, however. As they scrambled to make their way back out through the ventilation shaft, Vader's dark-clad presence came looming upon them, cutting effortlessly through the barricades the crew had set up for protection. Had their escape been any later, it would not have been an escape at all.

Together with the sleeper cell from Glare Peak, the crew made their escape aboard the same jump-ship that had brought them to Trivar II. Their goal was to make haste to the rebel base on Yavin IV, to debrief and to recuperate.

However, the group's passenger -- Bren Kestal -- has one request to make. He had plans to travel to the nearby planet of Spintir, and with urgent haste. Tracer seemed caught by the same zeal as the man himself, and with some persuasion the ship pilots agreed to abide by this request.

Once they had reached Spintir, a temperate and grass-covered planet, the old man simply departed. He extended an open invitation to the crew to one day return to the planet, and seek him out if they so wished -- with a symbolic token passed over, with which they could find him again.

His last, parting words was for the Force to be with them on their journey onwards.

After the fact, the ship set its course for Yavin IV. There, the crew got another chance to recuperate and resupply. They arranged for their ship to be brought to the moon from Bothawui -- where their astromech droid, R4-W9, had been tending it in their absence -- so that they could plot out their next course.
