Saurau Traverse

Mine Feature

Saurau Traverse is a huge, roughly circular, vertical chamber, roughly 399 feet deep and 30 meters in diameter. The west side of the traverse was originally mined heavily to exploit a huge mithril deposit, called The Saurau Load, and is still covered with wooden scaffolding. This scaffolding originally followed diagonal, meandering, and somewhat dangerous path along the walls of the traverse from the top of the traverse to the bottom.

The bottom of the traverse is flooded, containing two feet of water. A ramp leads up to the New Drift. The entire traverse was heavily damaged by the explosion that destroyed the New Drift, and can only be navigated with great peril.

The Grand Traverse had been mostly abandoned for many years prior to the Great Disaster that befell Cerro Rico, there was little need to travel this way once the Saurau load played out, especially once the New Drift was dug.
