Sphinx's Answer

In days of old, with spells of night,
The wise grew bold, their hubris bright.
They tore the threads, they sang the songs,
Their doom did come, a creeping wrong.

In darkness deep, the boundary fades,
A fragile line in Shadow's shades.
Once firm it stood, now worn and thin,
Where life meets death, the end begins.

The silent stir, the restless wake,
Dead fleets sail, their pride to slake,
A hole in the world, a chilling breath,
Living lands merged with death.

Sisters of power, once stood tall,
To halt the darkness, they answered the call.

One sang of fire, burning bright,
One whispered to stars in the quiet of night,
The last shaped sunlight, under her thrall,
Together, they built a shadow wall.

Their spells did hold, the darkness penned,
But time frayed bonds; their power bends.
Their victory waned, over years,
Death is coming, darkness and fear.

Sister bond broken, sibling trust done,
No more united, their chorus unsung,
They fear the dark, fear each other more,
Only one remains, to bar the door.

Through desert lands, and ziggurats tall,
My dark friend walks, to save us all,
West she journeys, where great rivers rise,
To the God-King's throne, under watchful skies.

Her purpose salvation, her secrets deep,
A world to save, a promise to keep,
The God-King waits, his power vast,
Against her courage, his deathless grasp.

Her path is peril, her fate unclear,
Yet onward she journeys, defying fear.
Alone and friendless, her path is stark,
Will you aid her, against the dark?
