A unique location as many of the regular animals have been blessed with psychic resonance. Quite often for people to hear voices of the actual foxes, rabbits, regular creatures - and it can be disorienting upon first entry. Some specialty animals have evolved with this ability and have used it to bring illusions to all that hunt them or, for the hunters to use against those that they hunt. Making it seem that the forest rearranges itself, or creatures not native to its' trees are inhabiting there when they are not. Lest it becomes VERY easy for most normal travelers to get lost an confused there. Specialty hunting units from Willowdale are attempting to track down any stragglers - though they come on rare occasions for many who come in, usually by accident, appear a day or two after accidentally wandering too deeply inside - calling upon strange apparitions of silver-haired spirits seemingly guiding them out.
Animals
Most often many animals that have lived their lives in the forest take on unique traits. Much of their furs are the best materials for all sorts of illusions & camoflauge-based items. There are some apex species that have evolved further.
Shadow Wolves - these types of dire wolves have evolved specifically to manipulate light. They are able to blend in with shadows as easily as they can sniff out enemies. Many pact tactics are based off hit & run maneuvers until the head Shadow Wolf comes in for the kill.
Ghost Spiders - these long-limbed spiders stick to the canopies and lay out traps all across the forest with their thin bristles & fast speed, they blend in with moonlight or shine brightly in the case of trying to blind enemies that escape their webs.
Paralytic Paccar - Looking like a Toucan except with a multi-colored beak & pinkish crest. They are inquisitive birds with the most dangerous & vexing to humanoids. Being so inquisitive they are the first to find new things that enter the forest, but as beautiful as they might appear - they are the WORST nuisances housed by the forest. Being the loudest creature in the forest, their birdsongs are disorienting - especially when seeking to find their mates or families in the night. Should any unfortunate travelers gain the interest of one such bird, they will follow them for the duration of the intruders' stay. When threatened, these birds weaponize their birdsong causing 60ft cones of psionic waves to assault creatures' minds. Their natural predator, the Ghost Spiders' scent are one of the only ways to drive them off nonlethally.
Mountain Moose - Inherently seismic megafauna traveling through the forest by their whims. Towering a few heads over Warhorses, these creatures have no real predators as their thick fur prevents even regular swords from piercing them. They use their enchanted horns, highly prized for the infused magics, to fight back against any that dare get in its way. Facing down one of these titanic creatures is a combat trial for only the most deranged or dishonored orcs - it is said if you have an exiled or dishonored you must face down this mighty beast and should you return with even a chunk of those massive horns you have effectively proven your devotion to the clan once more.
