Runic Craft is a type of magical enhancement born from the Giants & currently residing in some of the few remaining Giantkin, Giants, & Dwarfs. Runic Magic is different from regular enchantments, whereas enchantments are faster to obtain and apply. With quite a bit of versatility, Runes take a longer time to carve onto objects. With the older language, not many other races can do it. There is a secret benefit to Runic Magic - as it is far more potent with its abilities an cannot be so easily dispelled.
A Flame Tongue Sword - a rather common an glorious weapon, such a sword made from enchantments just has the fire damage. A Flame Tongue born of Runes might have the fire enchantment but offer the wielder fire resistance simultaneously. It is also far hardier, refusing to go out in water.
Some overlap can be theoretically done between enchantments & Runic Crafting.
