Public Knowledge

An on night like any other, gears of the suspended city clanged away at the day to day mechanisms. But on this night, one person deliberately chose to break the one sacred rule of the hanging city.

DON'T DISASSEMBLE THE DRONES!!!!!

Panic spread throughout the city as every phraxlamp, every dancing light and spell made photovoltaic cell in all of Hamir portam went RED. Each work beetle drone moved out of step and abandoned their long existent routines to spread death and destruction to all migrant fixtures of the city. That means everything that did not belong on the city itself!

ONESHOT: STOP THIEF!!

(This information is for anyone wanting to run a ONESHOT in the City of Hamir Portam)

Synopsis:

A thief has stolen a critical artifact of the city itself, and the drones of the city will tear down anything standing in its way to get it back

THIEF INFO:
The thief can be of any race as the city is a melting pot of people. so they can be highly customized. if you are low on time, feel free to use the (Assassin) stat block or a (Conjuration Wizard) stat block for characters of levels 3-8
If the characters are higher than that, then I suggest using a custom multiclass character of rouge and warlock, of a combined character level 1-3 levels below your player's character levels. Focus on mobility over raw damage as their intent is to escape, if your players are tactical enough, give the thief smoke bombs or one use misty step tokens; Since the Players are not the only things they need to escape! The thief is trying to make it out of the city so establish for yourself and the players what the Thief's escape route is. Are they trying to make their way to the Air Docks to hop onto an escape ship? are they using a defunct Centibeetle shell to ride out of town? its up to you to lock down his objective

Environment Info:
Hamir Portam has segmented Brass plates that can work as smaller area maps and biomes, they also have a sprawling undercity with miles of sewer piping and secret terrains in between so any city, sewer, thiefs den or mystery micro area battlemaps will do. All locations during this event will have the following environmental effects:

All magical sources of light will turn red
Constructs that don't have free will shall turn on the nearest creature to attack, and have +2 to their attack and damage rolls
the Centibeetles monsters used have a trample trait: when they move 15ft or more in a straight line, any creature of a size Medium or smaller needs to make a DC 17 Str save, on a failure the creature takes 2d12 bludgeoning damage and is knocked prone, if the creature fails by 5 or more, they take 4d12 bludgeoning damage instead and their walking speed is reduced by 1/2. Creatures of size small or large have advantage on the save.

Obstacles:
the Thief is being chased by the Centibeetles and their adamantine shells can break through anything so really play up the horror by having them break through walls and floors. having them arrive in waves either in combat (on initiatives 20 and 10) or randomly through a chase scene will set the mood just right. if the players are able to announce the thief and the object, they might be able to get the The Beetlebrig to assist
