Cumhaill falls in love with Muirne daughter of Tadgh, a powerful druid. However, Tadgh rejects this because he thinks Cumhaill will bring his downfall
Cumhail Kidnaps Tadgh and goes to war with the king, who Tadgh calls for help. Cumhail is killed in the battle by Goll Mac Morna.
However, Muirne is already pregnant with Cumhaill's son. The high king then takes Muirne under his protection.
Muirne's son Fionn is taken under the protection of Bodhmall and Liath Luchra.
They brought him up in secret in the forest of Sliabh Bladma, teaching him the arts of war and hunting. After the age of six, Fionn learned to hunt, but still had cause to flee from the sons of Morna. As he grew he entered the service of many kings, each recognizing him as Cumhail's son and is sent him to another king.
Finnegas, a druid, spends 7 years trying to catch the salmon of wisdom, magically catches it once Fionn comes. So, Finnegas tells Fionn to watch over it as it cooks before he comes back. However, when cooking the salmon, Fionn accidentally burns his finger and sucks on his thumb in pain. And so he gains the magic of the salmon. Finnegas comes back and realizes what happened and so he lets Fionn eat the rest of the fish.
He is granted the ability to all the world's wisdom, but only if he sucks his thumb.
Fionn wants to join the Fianna, but they are rules by the guys who killed his father.
To prove himself, they task him to kill Aillen Mac Midna, a fire breathing man who burns his house every summer while putting everyone to sleep with his music. Fionn stabs himself in the face with a hot spear to stay awake, and slays Aillen. Gol steps down and Fionn becomes leader of the Fianna. Fionn takes over Tadghs house, fulfilling the prophecy told earlier. In the woods, Fionn finds a beautiful deer that his hounds refuse to let him kill. Intrigued, he keeps the deer in his home where it turns into a beautiful woman named Sadhbh, who was turned into a deer by the evil Fer Doirich. Fionn becomes married to Sadhbh, but one day, a mysterious man visits Sadhbh and it turns out to be Fer Foirich, who turns her into a deer again.
Fionn looks around for Sadhbh but to no avail, but he finds a boy that he realizes is his son. Oisin.
Deirdre:
Druid tells that Deirdre will cause many to die for her beauty.
Many say to kill the child, but Conchobar takes her and makes leabharchaum raise her, so that when she grew up, he could marry her.
She describes a man with colors she had seen when a raven landed in the snow with its prey: hair the color of the raven, skin as white as snow, and cheeks as red as blood. Leabharchaum tells that she is describing Naoise, and so Deirre met Naoise, and they fell in love. They fled to Scotland together, but Conchobar had tracked them down. He sent Leabherchaum to see if she was still beautiful. To protect Deirdre, Leabherchaum tells him that she is now old and ugly.Conchobar then sent another spy, Gelbann, who managed to catch a glimpse of Deirdre but was seen by Naoise, who threw a gold chess piece at him and put out his eye. However, Gelbann told Conchobar that she was beautifull as ever.
Conchobar kills both of them with his soldiers and takes Dierdre as wife and askes who she hates worst other than him, and she said Eogan, the man who killed Naoise, and so he sends her to him, mocking her saying she is like an ewe between two rams, and so she kills herself.
