Less a people and culture of their own and more of a myth among others, the Avaar are a mysterious group about which little is known. Even during the days of the Godswar the Avaar kept to themselves, surfacing from time to time in groups never more a than a handful at once and always about some strange purpose they seldom shared with others. What is known of them paints a picture of an incredibly magical people, each one imbued with powerful Occult abilities the likes of which seldom seen amongst the other denizens of the realm. Their elusive nature had lead to some debate as it whether they are truly a unique people or simply a secret society of powerful magic users, but records that have since been discovered dating from the time of the Godswar purport their creator to be Rivenna, the goddess of Magic, cementing their place among the children of the Gods.
Though none know with any certainty where the Avaar make their home, a rumor has long circulated of an Avaaran stronghold hidden deep within a remote mountain wood known as The Seat of the Raven King. It is said to be a city dedicated to the study of the most secret and esoteric magics of the realm, and that those who make their home there have discovered much of the darkest secrets of the universe.
