Being a treatise on the more commonly used (but still maybe unlearned) items for the use of Banishment.
While this is not a comprehensive listing, studies have shown these items to be effectively distasteful to the subject creatures (especially groups of creatures) and viable for use in the spell or ritual.
We shall commence with a listing of various types/species of creatures and then expand this to consider more singular monsters.
In addition there are several overall rules that have proven mainly successful in previous research;
- Strongly aligned creatures are usually repelled by items or substances representing their polar opposite, i.e a chaotic slaad would find a lawfully aligned weapon distasteful.
- Creatures vulnerable to an element, energy, or substance may be banished with that element.
A further note; spellcasters using an arcane focus or a spell component pouch have an easier time, as the arcane focus supplies the proper energy, and a well stocked component pouch nearly always have something of use within. A word to the wise, knowledge such as is contained within these notes can still be valuable, as having a focus or pouch is not always guaranteed, and certain specific rituals may call for specific valuable items measured in gold cost to be supplied.
