Cave Diving - Eldritch Edition

      At the mouth of the cave, the party is faced with a decision that needs to be made... Do they enter the cave to neutralize possible threats, or do they take the risk and rest?

Eventually, the party came to the conclusion to explore the cave as the danger of sleeping was too great at the moment. Aizan decided to lead the charge into the cave and as

a result was turned into a pin cushion. Two goblin archers barred the way forward and were clearly a threat. After seeing Aizan being pierced by an arrow, Helsi made the

decision to stop them, literally. Helsi dug her fingers into the ground as vines erupted to root the goblins in place. Now rooted, the goblins were quickly dispatched. After the

quick and brutal encounter, the party left the cave to catch their breath. After the short rest, the party decided to go back into the cave and found a strange Well as well as a

staircase leading down. After ensuring nothing could come up from the Well, the party made their way down the stairs. Down the stairs the party found a room with a single

exit leading deeper and a locked safe with several containers. Being cautious, Aizan went to peak down the exit and was met with fangs digging into his skull. With Aizan

downed, the party was faced with a giant spider. Bargrim, Helsi, and Aelene held the spider off as Wren shoved a Goodberry down Aizan's throat. Aizan now awake and angry,

got up and finished the giant spider off and took the mandibles that caused him harm. At this point, the party decided rest was needed and set up within the room. First watch

went to Aizan & Helsi, second watch went to Wren & Aelene, and third watch went to Bargrim. During first watch, Helsi picked up on what sounded like goblins talking deeper

within the cave. After telling Aizan, they decided to let the others keep resting and would stay vigilant. Second watch came as Aizan & Helsi woke Wren & Aelene up. Aizan &

Helsi warned Wren & Aelene about the noises and told them to stay vigilant. Nothing of note happened during second watch. When third watch came around, Wren woke

Bargrim up and made too much noise for Wrens liking. After a quiet telling off, Bargrim took watch and relied on Bently to be his ears. Soon, it was time for everyone to get up

and brace for the day. After rations, Aizan & Bargrim concocted the plan to stage an ambush while Bargrim broke the lock to the safe. Bargrim broke the lock without any

goblins coming to see the commotion. Within the safe, Bargrim found a healing potion, a cure poison potion, a leather wrapped pouch with 50sp and 25gp, a pouch with

galena crystals, and a journal. The journal contained ore shipments but no info on where or who it was going to. After looking through the journal, Helsi went to peak down

further down into the cave. Helsi found 2 unarmed goblins and told the party. After some thought, Aizan approached the goblins and they seemed nonhostile. Unable to speak

goblin, Aizan held up rope and implied that he wanted to tie them up. After the goblins were tied up, Aizan led the goblins out to Helsi who was able to understand them. Helsi

learned that their names were Spork and Foon and came to make a deal with them. Spork and Foon will act as spies for the party as long as they're paid. After coming to a

deal, Aizan released Spork and Foon. After being released, it was decided that we should also have them take a box of silver and burry it under a large Witching Tree near the

roads close to Wren's Nest. After sending the goblins off and ensuring there was nothing else in this part of the cave, the party started to leave the cave and decided to take a

peek down the well. Wren went down the well and found what looked like an ancient ruin and reported back to the party. After some thought, the party went down the well and

found that the water at the bottom had the same oily taint that were on the plants. Entering to ruins, Bargrim found a fallen Obelisk that had engravings of constellations that

leaked the oily substance as well as a stone door with an engraving. Curious about the obelisk, Bargrim decided to touch it. After touching the Obelisk, both Bargrim and

Aizan experienced a vision of the night sky. Intrigued, Aizan decided to touch the Obelisk as well. Aizan fainted after touch the Obelisk, but Bargrim seemed to have an out of

body experience. Still curious, Bargrim and Aizan touched the Obelisk a final time and the Obelisk suddenly shrunk. With the Obelisk shrunk, Bargrim turned his attention

towards the door but failed at any attempts to open it. The party, defeated by the door, decided that taking care of the oil situation was enough and started to head back

home.
