Kato is a decrepit, antique rag doll about the size of a toddler with a worn, yellowed complexion. Its clothes are made of a mix of old, faded fabric and stitched-together pieces of cloth, giving it a haphazard appearance. The doll's face is a smooth, gaunt visage with button eyes that seem to stare into the soul. The eyes are an unnatural shade of deep bottomless black and are too large for its head. The mouth is a thin, roughly drawn on, lipless slit, giving Kato an unsettling, perpetual smile. Unkempt hair that looks like it was cut and brushed over and over again by a child tops off this sideshow.
It wanders in, joints stiff like a 90 year old who did hard labour. A haunting, sing songy, voice glides out of its face and simply states "Hello."
