A letter written by Initiate R’kio, concerning the trip around the New Republic worlds with Jedi Knight Hatorran. The letter is a video recording. There is a long pause before he starts speaking, like he has not prepared anything and is gathering his thoughts.
“I.. uh… guess I’ll start at the trip to various planets we visited. There was flowers, trinkets… I got a holocharm! Which, uh, can hold many images. I really love it. Heh…
“But alot of the excitement happened near the end of the trip. We was on our way to our next destination when we got a message. The conversation was between us and Ambassador Jeff’ri. I was not in the cockpit at the time so I did not hear much of it. But I was told we was tasked with mediating discussions between Zozin and Bastion.
“I… I do want to give the facts but I just wanna say a few things first. This was the first time seeing Imperial knights. At least up close like this. I did freeze a bit at hearing that they was going to be there. But then I saw them. And all I could think was that they looked normal. They was not scary at all. In fact I’m sure some of them wanted to be our friends.
“So the talks began. We discovered the points each side wanted to make, and we helped mediate. The empire really wants the Navy base before everything else. At least that's what I understood. It took four days but we was able to convince the Bastion to make things more reasonable for Zozin. Good trade is established on good trust. If you cannot trust your trading partner then any offer of trade feels like malicious intent is behind the deal. These are the lessons that the Trade Committee on my planet has taught me.
“In the end, I am glad we helped. Bastion is going to use the Zozin system as another key area to potentially attack New Republic should the two start fighting. I hope that is not the case. I am glad I was there. I got to see that misunderstandings can and do happen. I also saw some are willing to stretch deals as far as they could go.”
There was another long pause. R’kio was deciding whether or not to say more, or if anymore needed to be said. Ultimately he decided to end the letter here. The letter is signed with a half smile from R’kio. It should be noted he intentionally left out Tie Fighters in the report.
