History and Goals
The Aeternian Post Office is one of the newest and most integrated groups in Aeternia. Before the Sundering, The APO was the de facto logistical force for economic movement. One of the few groups maintaining caravans and trade routes, they grew to not only be influential, but well loved. The smiling face of a courier or trade delivery person was always a welcome sight in town. Since the Sundering, the APO's role has changed slightly. While they still devote themselves to delivering letters and information all across Aeternia, they do not have the influence the once did on economic matters. While they operate two of the very few large airships on Aeternia, the Clemency and the New Dawn, the amount of money and magic required for a flight keeps them from wielding the logistical ability they once had. This has left trade on Aeternia to being much more localized since the Sundering. The few times the APO has been seen flying their airships, it has been at the service of Pragmatica Aesthetica, helping to move materials and large completed projects. As one of the few organizations that can afford to pay the costs required, the APO has relied on Pragmatica Aesthetica's business to keep afloat.
The Post Office in its current airship-based form was founded by a Bear Wildkin named Denge. Denge used to work for a terrestrial delivery service named Aeternia Express. When the Sundering occurred and the logistics of an entirely land based logistics and messaging system began to fall apart, Denge took to the sky with The Clemency, to heroically deliver the mail where it needed to go. Over time, Aeternia Express molded into the Aeternian Post Office. They maintain the land delivery network as well as the airships they have. The APO has also begun using Leyline travel for time-sensitive deliveries when able, but given the Essence and skill required, that is considered quite the premium service. What few flights they are able to engage in are considered crucial to the communication infrastructure of Aeternia and some view members of the APO as heroes. Denge, ever the humble wildkin, would say that they are only doing what is needed of them. Communication is the lifeblood of the world and someone has to keep it going.
The Aeternia Post Office has very few if any enemies, at least publicly. Occasionally a mail convoy will be attacked, but these all appear to be random bandits from what can be seen. Given the condition of the world and ever-increasing danger however, armed guards have begun to accompany these convoys. The Aeternian Post Office always has need of skilled logistics officers, protection, and of course anyone willing to do the grunt work to keep the lines of communication between the islands open. Of course, if you happen to have an airship and the means to consistently fly it, you would be a most treasured addition to the team.
