A Proclamation on Dates and The Historical Record

None can deny how the discovery of the ley changed the world we live in. A mere 100 years ago, we discovered something that has reshaped not only how we view our world, but also how we interact with it. We quickly gained control over magic and it has benefitted us greatly. As such, on this the centennial of the greatest discovery of our time and after a global summit of national leaders, we have decided to change how we as historians identify eras of Aeternia: before and after the discovery of the leylines.

We have proposed, approved, and begun work to change records as such: Any time before the discovery of the ley is referred to as "Exo Ant Ley" or "EAL" for short. For those unfamiliar with the Obsidian tongue, this roughly translates to "From Before the Ley" The era from the discovery of the ley until now is referred to as "Apude Ley" or "AL", meaning "Amongst the Ley."

We hope that all citizens of Aeternia will join the historical societies of the world in adopting these new terms.
