The Keylar family is renowned in the Old World for its excellent craftmanship in clocks and clockwork devices. The last daughter of their lineage, Saiki, quickly proved to be gifted in memory, creativity and observational spirit: she completed her classical education early on, and dabbled in as many theoretic fields as possible, even studying arcane theory despite not having the capacity to master magic herself. She even dabbled in Occultism, Astrology, and other less scientific fields, straying away from her family's tradition, and was often belittled in certain academic circles for her more... unorthodox theories. Unfortunately, aside from the fencing and marksmanship lessons her parents forced upon her, she never deepened her more physical capabilities, also justified by the fact that she was always surrounded by servants.
Later in her life she started referring to themself as a "Biological Machine", using neutral pronouns, and their guest speeches and lessons in the various academy across the Old World become more and more unfit for the public sensibility, up to the point when their family publicly disowned her. Not demoralized by these events, they spent their last fortunes on a trip to the New World, hoping to sate their unbridled thirst for knowledge and to practice their most extreme experiments independently.
