The story of the self-styled knight Sir Arwyn is a curious one. Once an honorary squire to a knight of some renown in the empire of Taldor, Arwyn (or Thistlewood as they were then known) was used more as a servant to the uppity knight than an actual apprentice, led on by promises of fame and the chance to do real good in the world. One day, however, his master never returned from an expedition that Arwyn was assured was a noble fight against evil, but in truth was a colonisation effort by the Empire. In an unexpected twist, the knight's lack of a legitimate heir meant that the diminuitive sprite inherited both their master's title and their estate. Finding little use for material fortunes, and becoming disenfranchised by the discovery that the empire they served was neither as honourable nor as good as they were led to believe, the newly-knighted Sir Arwyn escaped to the forest to seek guidance from their own kind but found the woodlands sparse and uninhabited. It was there that they first received a sign from Cernunnos, a slain buck placed conspiciously in an otherwise-lifeless grove. Carving the antler into a lance they dubbed "Cyrnarwr", Sir Arwyn set off on their corgi steed March for new adventures in a new world...
