Investigating the cause of mysterious sink-holes that were impeding the farming and foresting work of the farmers. The band of mostly new arrivals walked to the farm and talked with the farmer (and his chickens) about the sinkhole problem. They shared sightings of mysterious pale figures and we correlated their presence to the appearance of the sinkholes.
The group descended down one such hole by rope and began subterranean exploration. Sudden waves of acidic water had been slowly tunneling and undermining the surface. The group followed one such natural tunnel downwards until they found a cavern occupied by the mysterious pale figures. They proved to be Morlocks who fled at the sight of the party's approach.
The group pursued, but was quickly threatened by another wave of fluid. Seeking refuge in a higher tunnel, they were confronted by a group of Morlocks. Battle ensued, and the Morlocks were defeated. The higher tunnel proved a dead-end, so the group endeavored to travel upstream to discover the source of the flooding. There they found several seemingly empty holes but then realised they were filled with some kind of giant ooze. The floods were secretions of the enormous gelatine! The group bravely ran away.
