Shugorot was born in a populous orc tribe at the heart of the Badlands, deep in the Hold of Belkzen.
Being born in a crowded area is not ideal when you are an orc. Learning to fight for every scrap at a young age, Shugorot became fierce, violent, filled with hate.
He was gained some renown early in his life for having noticeably red skin. The orcs of his tribe, having lived in the rocky mountains of the area for generations, had adapted to their surroundings, but his skin was almost a bright color.
Not as big as his tribesbrothers, Shugorot learned to hide, to avoid trouble.
He learned to hunt, to fill his belly.
He learned to fill his competition with arrows before they could reach him.
He was eventually trained as a scout and wandering lookout for the tribe. In the wilderness, it was quiet and Shugorot didn't have to watch his back so much. He finally fell at home.
He always returned to the tribe so as to not be labelled a traitor or a deserter, be he grew to despise the mindless violence he so often saw in his brothers and sisters.
One night, out on a trek, he spotted a small light in the distance. He approached stealthy and realized it was a campfire.
Some travelers were traveling through the lands, camping for the night. He decided to get as close as he could and eavesdrop on them.
That night, he learned of a portal. He learned of a New World. And also, he learned how it felt to be hopeful.
For days after, even weeks, he trailed the party. Not wanting to lose their tracks, he never went back home.
Until the tracks led him to the portal.
