Loose threads: steamsters, Unknown fortress, Elves?, the other end of the road
Participants: Sohma, Diane Firalel, Veloc 4, Mesper Sorgowin, Daggoth
Locations: Greyspine Mountains
Full report: Sohma
In this second adventure to determine where this road led, the party first had to retrieve Guel's son, Greq, captured by a group of Fey that the party had to defeat in a series of challenges to win Greq's freedom. Once this had been sorted, the party traveled into the wilderness to beeline where the road had left off.
On the way, they faced hostile wilderness, including a ghostly knight, Sir Dengro, bound to this world by a promise he left unkept. The party retrieved Sir Dengro's sword and returned it to the spot he had promised, filling his oath and freeing him. By doing so, Mesper Sorgowin was blessed by Saranrae, unlocking Sun Blade.
Continuing up the road into the mountains through intense switchbacks, the party noticed they been followed by Greq! Determined to keep him safe, the fellowship almost broke by way of deciding how to do so, but heard a commotion up above, along the switchbacks, where they found an older Unknown, Crudrib, and his daughter, Nolke fighting with a mechanical beast of steam that was alight. The party successfully put the beast down, with the final blow being dealt by Greq, against the party's advice.
The party knew the end of the road was nigh, so the party decided to press on, leaving Greq in the care of two strangers they just met. They found a massive, Dwarven-carved door guarded by two large stone Golems. It was a straight-forward matter to put them down, though not without near-causalties when Ash was very nearly killed in a single blow. Daggoth and Ash took the quick route, and the party frog-marched Greq home to report the existence of the ruin, but knew that it would be a matter for another day to open the door and delve the dungeon.
