Raising a kitsune child can be hard, especially in communities without any kitsune residents of their own. The difficulty increases with young Dark Wilds kitsune, which along with kitsune's natural prankster nature, can, in extreme circumstances, literally feed off fear!

Bochi was one such child, a kitsune and noticeably inhuman, raised in a small human town. 'It takes a village' was a very apt phrase when it came to rearing him, but despite the villagers best attempts, he failed to pick up the local trade. They tried to harness his trickster nature into performance, but despite his youthful mischeiviousness, showmanship did not come naturally to him.

Finally, an odd idea came to the villagers as Bochi approached adolescence. What type of profession could benefit from physical strength, unnatural appearance, and supernatural fear powers?

Why, a tax collector, of course!

And so Bochi was sent to the big city to learn the profession and became one of the tax-men of a nearby region, going door to door collecting overdue rent and missed payments. Intimidating but kindhearted, Bochi was kind to those who needed it, offering extensions and homespun financial advice, while those who could afford to give more found themselves... 'encouraged' to do so. And when worst came to worst, he used his fists to put down any would be thieves or tax evaders.

Such a life, while not without it's merits and pleasures, soon grew dull to Bochi, whereupon he packed up his things, said goodbye to his hometown, turned in his two-two weeks notice, and went... Beyond The Portal!
