Loose threads: Dungeon below the hippogriff nest
Participants: Gail, Auric Crystalson, Dretal, Tuesday, Felton Baral
Locations: Millennium Forest, Spire Hills
Full report:
The party set off to map the relatively unexplored area West
of the Millennium Forest. The first day's journey in the hills was uneventful
for the most part, the party stumbled upon a secluded Hippogriff Nest but chose
to avoid the confrontation and go around, despite the need for a hearty
breakfast that could have been had from the egg.
Upon reaching the coast the party set up camp and watches for the evening before the following day's adventure. On Gail's watch he spots dancing lights in the distance and wakes the camp. The party pursues the lights in the dark for some distance before stopping, believing it could be a trap of some pursuer. Not wanting to leave the danger to another party, they plan to take on the threat. But before they could put their plan into action the lights reveal themselves to be Sprites just trying to play a game with the party. A deal is made with the Sprites - the party would play a short game of hide and seek with them, and they would tell us something interesting about the area for every Sprite we found.
After the game was complete, five of the mischievous creatures were found, and they told the party of interesting things about the area, notably a small treasure hidden at the edge of the woods and of a dungeon the used to hold mythical creatures for experimentation. The next day the party sets out to find the treasure and finds a small box with a ring inside of it. With several hours left before sundown, the party decides to search the area for the dungeon entrance, Auric Crystalson spots what looks like a masonry construction... below the Hippogriff nest. He reports this to the party and they decide to take on the Hippogriffs.
After a perilous fight, the party brings both Hippogriffs down and gathers the egg as a prize. No obvious entrance is found around the masonry but they intend to return after a brief respite. for further investigation.
