Marianne Gellantara was an accomplished priestess of Apsu, having spent a good portion of her life wandering the Old World, helping where she could, rooting out evil where she found it. When the portal to the New World opened, it only followed that if the peace was considered likely to be kept, that her feet should take her to this new place. It has been a year, and she never returned.
Carthana Gellantara is her daughter, and has grown up under the tutelage of the church of Apsu and her parents. When she came of age, becoming a wandering peacekeeper like her mother had seemed natural. The idea had been that she would gain some experience in the dangers of the world on a personal level by confronting evil while her mother explored the New World. Carthana would prove to be too naive, however. She dropped her guard in the middle of combat with lizardfolk worshippers of Dahak to offer mercy to an enemy within striking distance.
She awoke in a field hospital. Her poor judgement had seen her stricken down and caused a rallying surge amongst the iruxi. While the adventuring party she had been working with did triumph, not all were as lucky as she in being stabilized.
She retreated to working for the field hospital as a simple healer for a time, ridden with guilt and (ashamedly) some terror. Then her mother's absence stretched from months into a year. Carthana had been mustering her courage to once again go forth into the world, and the passing of the landmark date galvanized her. Her family disapproved when she told them, but decided it was best to aid rather than hinder, if Carthana was determined to see this through.
Carthana comes to the New World with her horse, her grandmother's staff, and her father's firearm. She seeks to help First Landing in whatever form that takes, and find out what happened to her mother. Hopefully whilst being smarter about things than last time.
