Full Report
The party have been individually approached by the guild to help deal with a possible undead spotting. As new adventurers, they have been teamed up and made some preparations for both the winter cold and the expected undead enemies.
First day of travel went by uneventful, it was a slow, cold slog. On second day, they reached shelter, a very small cave beneath a rock formation. Taking cover there, they set up for the night, but were attacked very early into their rest, forcing party members to fight without armor as they fought off crawling hands, skeletons and a ghoul. Luckily, a dashing, dazzling, majestic dog spotted the enemies and did his duty to awaken others.
After defeating the undead ambush, the party finished resting. After a short investigation, they found an illusory wall that lead to a series of tunnels. After some exploration and a short climb through a mushroomy area, the party crossed over a chasm and headed inside a forlorn temple. The entrance had two statues with a dark essence akin to water seeping out of their hearts, a recurring theme throughout the temple.
There were many haunts, but they braved slowly but surely. Eventually a door slammed down behind the party, shutting down their escape. The party suddenly found themselves in a chase as what started out as strange noises, turned out to be churning swarm of skeletons that clawed one over another to get to the living first. The chase took them throughout strange pieces of the structure, and despite a few scratches and cuts, the party somehow escaped a tidal wave of roiling bones and skulls, finding sanctuary and respite in a chamber of last rites, protected by what seemed to be a corpse holding the symbol of Serenrae, which held the undead at bay, and helped with healing the wounds they had accrued.
After a short rest and some patching up, the party continued deeper into the temple. Breaking through a solid door, they found themselves in a large chamber full of the negative essence and more undead creatures. Inside they found a strange throne, and stranger still was the creature sitting on it, sporting a painful whip and unholy magic.
The party managed to somehow wipe the floor with the enemy undead without losing a single party member to the enemy forces. Because Corvo ended up taking the ankh that held the skeleton horde that chased them earlier at bay, they realized they needed to make a hasty retreat.
