Loose threads The fiendish origins of the chokers.

Participants Seravi Senarir, Xougog, Morwin Diannon, Eleanore, Rope

Locations Spire Hills

Short summary:

The party gathered in the blinking pug and traveled for a day towards the outskirts of First Landing, the following day the party arrived at Spire Hills. When they arrived at the hills they found a scout hiding in the trees surrounded by 3 giant ants. After the party dispatched the giant ants, they tended to the scout who recalled away, because sadly, the ants ate his horse. The party located the cave and Rope and Morwin decided to scout ahead, which proved quite fatal. Morwin ended up getting grabbed by a choker and almost died. However, Morwin refused to die. They manage to escape and regroup with the party and defeat the chokers and find a hoard kept by the chokers: equipment and possessions from adventurers that met their end at the hands of the chokers. When the party tried to leave, they were confronted by two bigger and stronger chokers whom the party barely defeated. All the large chokers combusted into flames akin to fiends when killed.

Full Report

This document is a detailed report of the venture that took place in one of the caverns of Spire Hills after numerous old reports and maps, a lead was found to an unexplored cave full of chokers. We, the party, gathered in the blinking pug. Consisting of faces familiar to me; Morwin Diannon,EleanoreXougog and a new face: Rope. We made our preparations and left First Landing to travel towards the cavern.

Our first day of traveling was uneventful. However, the day after proved to be the most eventful. On the second, day while traveling to the cave, we were alerted by whistling. A guild scout had climbed a tree in order to escape 3 giant ants attempting to devour the poor fellow. We intervened and a short skirmish commenced. One of the giant ants managed to pincer me and attempted to drag me off towards the west. Fortunately Xougog exterminated the pest that had hold of me. We helped the poor scout down and Eleanore attempted to tend to his wounds. Apparently, the giant ants made a meal of the scout's horse. But the scout was eager to get his recaller back, which one of the ants had swallowed. Morwin Diannon found the recaller after carving open the giant ants and the scout made his return to First Landing in order to treat his wounds.

We arrived at the entrance of the cave and made our way inside. After traveling for a while, we found a hole leading deeper into the cave. Morwin Diannon and Rope decided to scout ahead. The rest of the party waited for their return. However, a while after their departure, the sounds of a fight echoed through the cave. We made haste to follow but feared for the worst as the cave spans quite a distance. We managed to find Rope and Morwin Diannon running back towards us. Morwin Diannon seemed fine, but the bruises around her neck told another story. They explained their encounter with a choker. We regrouped and made our way towards the location where the altercation took place, finding two chokers. The chokers proved to be very dangerous as they were adept at fighting against humanoid opponents with their long appendages. We dispatched the chokers with great effort and continued.

We made our way deeper into the cave, and when we did, we encountered a choker conversing with another choker who towered in size compared to the other chokers. We exchanged looks, some of us attempted to converse with the foul creatures but to no avail. We engaged in combat and bested the creatures and while the larger choker died it burst into black flames and disappeared, leaving behind a foul smell. We approached the place where the two chokers were conversing to discover a hoard of equipment and possessions from adventurers. These adventurers presumably and regrettably have found their demise in the grasp of these chokers.

We gathered the hoard and made our way back to the entrance where we were confronted by two larger chokers who seemingly were returning towards the cave. We engaged them, barely surviving the encounter and killing the large chokers who, again, combusted in black flames. Once these foul creatures have you in their grasp, they are able to choke the life out of you in mere moments, as I've observed and had the unfortunate privilege of experiencing this. These creatures are smarter than their looks will tell you, being able to converse and fight with tactics. They are also able to use their grabbed victims as improvised shields. I fear that the two larger chokers were returning from a hunt as they returned together. The thought of creatures like these stalking around so close to First Landing is unsettling. Hopefully, we have managed to get rid of the local choker population for now.
