Our party gathered outside the main gates of First Landing in the early morning. After some initial waiting, we ventured out to explore a set of burrows to the northeast of the city. We arrived just as the sun was setting and decided to camp just within the entrance to avoid any potential rain in the night.
The following morning, we began to truly explore the caves. We were soon ambushed by a pair of creatures that we believed to be giant badgers, although Elias claims they were actually prairie drakes, but we were able to defeat them. We continued on to find a small underground pond, where Big Hat bravely dived in to retrieve a magic item at the bottom but nearly drowned! With Big Hat safe, we continued on but found that the burrows were constantly shifting as unknown creatures continued digging new tunnels where there weren't any before.
We may have gotten lost and were attacked by a trio of goblins and their sick goblin dog. I was knocked unconscious and nearly killed by a critical blow from a goblin while Elias was sickened by a case of goblin pox as he fought the dog. Thankfully, Bragric and Big Hat were able to finish the fight and rescue the both of us. Big Hat discovered the goblins were worshipping a shrine of Rovagug and proceeded to destroy the shrine with brute force. Unfortunately, our attempts to heal Elias's wounds were unsuccessful even as we rested for the night.
As we resumed trying to heal Elias the following day, we could hear the sounds of more goblins approaching from the southwest. Fearing we were not prepared for another fight, we fled to the northeast and the goblins gave chase. As we scaled rocks and avoided poison mushrooms, we were able to run past a deadly ooze that proceeded to take care of the goblins for us!
With the danger seemingly gone, we continued following the cave path we were on until Bragric and Big Hat discovered a hidden door. Opening it, we discovered a suspicious chest and an even more suspicious scarecrow standing over it. I'll admit, with the magic aura surrounding it and all the luck we've been having, I was certain that the scarecrow was a magic construct just waiting for a chance to strike. However, while the rest of us were cautiously approaching it and too afraid to do anything, Elias realized it was just an ordinary scarecrow left behind by the fey to mess with us. With the chest plundered and the scarecrow beheaded, we decided now was the best time to recall ourselves and return home to rest and heal.
