Full Report
On the morning of a certain late winter, Stewart Kristoffen Elric Leonard Leighton Yrwin , Mouse, Neithan , Sauda and Plova gathered together in the Blinking Pug, our cozy tavern in the middle of First Landing, to plan the journey to Thunderveil, where adressee of the letter we were tasked with delivering is located.
After taking path through the portal in the Shrine, we have arrived in Roanokae's temple, where we have spent the night before venturing into potentially hostile territories of the Pact. Nevertheless, the path has shown itself to be uneventful, with nary a sight of anything worth mentioning.
In the evening of the sixth day, we have found ourselves on top of a rock formation, sight of Thunderveil stretching out far in front of us, its majesty and magnitude like none other we have seen before in the New World.
Choosing a direct approach has proven fruitful, despite complications.
Once we approached the south gate of the city, we were stopped by guards who seemed to share a mark of an internal community - a face paint resembling a skull upon one's face. We would later learn that this pattern marks them as people who report to the one calling themself "chosen".
We were escorted inside the walls, to a place eerily resembling prison.
After some time has passed, we were finally visited by the one called The Chosen.
This person seemed quite astonished when our words, misleadingly so, suggested to them "Young Tanni Galespeaker" has been receiving letters from the Guild. Despite our attempts to dispel those suspicions, for the sake of our recipient, they did not seem convinced.
Nevertheless, over the course of our conversation, I believe I, Stewart, managed to gain a little trust of them, when they promised to continue our conversation in the morning when we could exchange pleasantries.
This promise was not kept.
The following dawn, after learning we will not be joining Chosen for the meal, we were escorted into an arena.
A crowd of people was gathered to witness foreign envoy participate in a cruel game of death.
Upon drawing our challenge, we have been placed against hungry beasts:
- Ugarash, a dinosaur with long tail that ends with a heavy club
- A highly venomous serpent
- Syrest, known among them as "the Blizzard Stalker"
Very much to surprise of everyone, and displeasure of the Chosen, we have managed to deal with all of them, some non-lethally, within seconds, which has proven enough for us to receive an audience with the Henge.
We were escorted to The Spires, where the audience was to take place, by a person who appears to outrank the Chosen - a veiled woman calling herself Alara.
An old orc introduced themself as Galespeaker, expecting us to deliver the message right there and then. However, seeing through their deception, we managed to reveal their ploy while further antagonizing the Chosen.
After that, identities of present members were revealed:
- Skadi's Chosen, a young orc with face covered in the same skeletal mask as their men.
- Alara, a veiled woman who remained hidden beneath her veil.
- Yurick, the eldest of those present.
- A woman wearing a bandana whose name was not revealed.
- Tanni Galespeaker, clad in robes with "salt and pepper" hair, in similar age to the Chosen.
Stewart provided a detailed description of all members of the city council for a Guild artist to be able to draw a very precise set of portraits, in order for other adventurers to easily identify them. |
At that point, Tanni Galespeaker has addressed us, and requested the message be spoken openly to everyone present. He was, however, obviously coerced into claiming so.
Luckily, we anticipated the possibility, and we forged a fake message that carried no value other than establishing existence and possible alliance in the future.
This message has been written aloud, and it held a possibility of mutual help should they accept it, while the real message was snuck to Tanni Galespeaker while members of the Henge were enchanted by the illusions that sprung to life as the forged message was 'delivered'
It is an action that is against Guild's stance on the Pact, however, should this relationship I, Stewart, managed to forge be deemed improper when confronted with the Stance as of writing this report, I will advocate for its use as means for espionage to be used against the Pact.
