Short summary: We set out to track a previously released cteature. Further investigation of the lab revealed a few insights and curiosities, more creatures were cleared out, then we returned.

We gathered, and after a brief discourse about our plan, set off toward the lab described in the previous report. Travel was mostly uneventful until we nearly reached our destination, whereon we happened upon our first curiousity- a regurgitated mound of previously consumed cadavers- My investigations proved to my detriment as there was an emmination of some sort of toxin. (By the conclusion of the investigation I am suspect that these masses were produced by the very creature we initially set out to study.)
Upon entry into the laboratory structure, we found the runes discovered by the previous adventurers. The dialect was strange, but not unintelligible and translation was short work. There seemed to be magic within, providing access through a magical lift system to a secret underground lab space. Here, is where the alchemical work and experiments were conducted. There were creatures about, specimens of the experimental procedures. They seemed to be a mixture of insectoid and kobold with nary a redeeming trait from either. We made short work of them before investigating further.
Our discoveries included;
-another containment chamber, housing experimental specimens (ghouls)
-a compendium of information on undead creatures as a whole
-a sample of the alchemical concoction created within the lab
We did not encounter our quarry, but the expedition wasn't a complete loss as the information acquired was treasure in itself.
