Report on the Fiends located at the Desert's Belt River(Div Dealings)

by Alena Daywalker (Proofread and edited by Peter Kitsuné)

This report will encompass the events involving Peter Kitsuné, Rodrick PoeSakassi, and Alena Daywalker  investigating the report of Fiends located at the Desert Belt. Preparing with research on Div and arms the party set off from First landing without much trouble. Deciding first to speak and inform the Watcher tribe of their deceased. Arriving at the gate we informed them of the events reported. and in doing so learned of a potential survivor. After successfully persuading the guards at the gate we were allowed entry to speak to the said survivor. A Kobold with a missing eye, they were currently in the infirmary receiving healing  still recovering from the events of the attack, (Naming a River!) we were there informed that the Kobolds and sea people, correctly named and identified as Tritons were in trade relations with  The Watchers' Tribe of Kobolds. It was claimed that the Kobolds were massacred by the Trirons. This statement proved to be false.

After acquiring as much information possible from the Kobold we left deciding we may gain more information at the site of the attack and deaths. As we were traveling upon the watch of Alena, there was a odd sound as if the distress of a Kobold in need of help, Upon waking Rodrick, Alena then took off to investigate and learned there was a magical enchantment with the voice. deciding to hold off and wait for the rest of the party we then after overcoming the enchantment decided to approach and investigate. Learning that two fiends, a aghash, and one other Hyena like fiend.

Bringing down the Hyena at the cost of Rodrick becoming incapacitated from injuries received the rest of the party drove off the aghash as it used a spell to teleport away.

After recovering for the rest of the night, the party continued onto the site of the massacre there we were able to determine that heavy magic was used in the attack. A note that neither the Tritons or the Kobolds are that magically inclined from the remains and description of the battle field surveyed by Rodrick, It was confirmed and stated that there had to have been a third party present at the attack. Close the site of the battle, the party chanced upon a friendly triton who we shared this information with. in turn we were informed of Kobold Scouts up the river.

Investigating a set of tracks from the site we discovered they were heading back to the Watcher tribe, deciding to turn back the party began to make way to the Kobold Scouts, upon arriving we conversed with the scouts and learned the Kobold from earlier was among them the party finding suspect with this and the party posed a test of simply touching cold Iron. (Note cold Iron is harmful to Fiends [and Fey], but not Kobolds) The Kobold refused and in frustration gave up its disguise and showed itself to be a fiend, A Pairaka identified by Sakassi, The Fiend attempted to escape just as a storm began to set in the party chased it running through the Kobold Camp and the outskirts through a river. The fiend was forced to land and was promptly surrounded. The Fiend attempted to Bargain leading us to the hideout of the Fiends making the current trouble. He said there were 4 fiends other than him. That was later discovered to be false. We accepted and upon arriving at a door in a hill, we released the Fiend, and began to delve into the Fiends' base.

Upon entering we attempted to sneak up on the Fiends; this did not work as desired, leaving Peter to be caught out away from the party. We entered combat and fought against the familiar Aghash, a boar like Fiend, and a worm like one. Sustaining injuries, Peter was the first to go down unconscious from the fight. We defeated them and took a brief moment to recover and heal as best we could moving our formation to adjust for Injuries.

Peter adds: At around this point I started to notice strong similarities between the way these fiends were operating and the way enclaves of conspirators work. I feared that there might be other fiends elsewhere that were also attempting to sow distrust and hatred.

Venturing further ,we encountered three, smaller, flying fiends (identified as Doru) that were hovering over a set of documents, engaging them the party was only slightly injured over all but were fine for the most part.

Peter adds: By this point we had seen 7 fiends out of the 5 that the Pairaka had said existed (including itself). Clearly someone was not to be trusted (as seen later)

The previous Pairaka returned, attempting to pin and corner the party in against the three Doru. Unfortunately for it, the Doru were already dead. The party worked together once more to bring it down and seemingly to have flushed out the Fiends from their base with Peter landing the much needed finishing arrow. Identifying the documents they were the trade documents between the Tritons and Kobolds. Gathering the items, we returned to inform of our success and what transpired. After that, we returned home safely.
